Sorry y’all. This might be the most random, all over the place, post ever.
WordPress is killing me.
For new visitors, Hi! I would normally point you to the archives to take a look around, but right now, my older posts are a mess. WordPress has recently moved to a new editor and my posts that migrated over from my previous blogspot blog are looking pretty crazy right now. Pictures are missing, text is out of alignment. I don’t think there is an easy fix for it, so I’m having to go through post by post and clean them up. So, apologies. It’s taking a while.
Meanwhile, please enjoy some pics of baby girl. We’re just TEN days away from her 1st birthday and I can’t even think of it. It’s so cliche but this year really has flown by.
I had one goal for her first year, and that was to stay un-busy so that I could soak up everything. That meant I did things I enjoyed as far as hobbies (I still read books, watched movies, crocheted, knitted, gardened), but for things that required more time and energy and brainpower (like trying to run this blog like I wanted to and post frequently and run an Etsy shop), those things were definitely not a top priority.
When Harper was a baby, aside from my maternity leave time, I had a full time job. I worked until 3 weeks before her 1st birthday. There was so much that I missed out on. I realize exactly how much that was now that I’ve had the opportunity to be a full time mom to an infant.
Looking forward to the year ahead, I think it’s time that I can add some things back in to my weekly rotation, including here on the blog. I’ve missed posting regularly and keeping a record of our daily life through this medium. Not that I ever posted super regularly, but in the beginning I was much more enthusiastic about sharing our life, travels, thoughts, and not just sporadic recipe posts.
I’m still not sure exactly what I want for this space. I’ve pondered on it for quite some time and I’ve let my lack of direction and indecisiveness get in the way, leading to months of no posts whatsoever. So for now, I’m going to just write and share pictures of our life and the things that make me happy. That might mean some posts are just pictures on days where I want to share but don’t have much to say. Some might be so many words (like this one)!
This won’t be just a recipe blog, or just crafts. I have too many interests to be tied to one niche. I’m not trying to be a super blogger sharing multiple posts a day. I’d love to one day make an income from this blog (who wouldn’t?!). But I only want to attract people here that understand that family comes first in my world.
Blogging is for fun. I truly enjoy sharing recipes I love, pretty pictures, stuff going on around the farm. I want this space to be a reflection of me; a place that my family can come to and look back on our life with a smile. I want my girls to come here and see their mama’s heart.
My very favorite blogs to read are the more personal ones. The ones where there are lots of pictures and thoughts of daily life. Where you aren’t being sold something. When the blogger is showing up to write just for the enjoyment of it. Where it doesn’t matter if you have millions of readers or none at all. I want that for this space.
I’m following this advice from one of my favorite bloggers, Elise “I just do what I like and share what I love.”
So friends, I hope you’ll stick around. And if not, that’s okay too.
