12slicesof sharp cheddar cheese or your favorite cheese
1package of slider buns12 rolls
Glaze & Topping
1/2cup(8 tablespoons) salted butter
2tablespoonsbrown sugar
1tablespoonworcestershire sauce
1tablespoonmustard
1tablespoonsesame seeds-optional
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and coat 9×13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Place a large skillet on the stovetop over medium-high heat. Add meat, seasonings, and onions and cook until meat is browned and onions are golden. (We aren’t making patties here, you want the meat to be crumbled.) Stir in drained tomatoes and garlic until well combined.
Place bottom half of buns in prepared pan. Top with skillet mixture and then layer on sliced cheese. Finish off with the top half of the bun.
In a microwave safe bowl, melt the butter. Add in remaining glaze ingredients minus the sesame seeds and whisk until smooth and combined. Pour over the buns & top with sesame seeds.
Cover the dish and let sit for 10 minutes for the glaze to absorb.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-15 minutes (or until the cheese is melted and the tops of the buns are lightly toasted; watch carefully, each oven is different.)
Notes
For a spicy burger, use Rotel or similar. If you aren't a fan of spicy food, I recommend using a can of diced tomatoes. For burger seasonings, I like Southern Flavor or Gunpowder seasoning. Feel free to use your favorite!
