First Sweater...Progress

So I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was wanting to cast on for my first sweater, using this pattern on Ravelry.

I finally bought the pattern and started on April 30th. My logic for starting a sweater in Spring is that hopefully I'll be finished by the time it gets cool enough to wear it! In cooler climates, some might be able to wear this sweater in spring and summer, but in Alabama, it's way too hot and humid to even think about wearing this until fall.

So far, I've made it past the decorative linen stitch at the neckline, and the first round of increases for the yoke. I've knitted up to the place where I'm making my second round of increases and switched to a longer cable this afternoon.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about the very obvious increases, but this is a very light, loose knit sweater using lace weight on larger needles, so I'm hoping the holes will blend in or at least look intentional once it's finished.

I looked at the other user's projects on Ravelry, and it seems that the texture of the yarn helps the finished garment look like it's meant to be randomly holey (not sure if that's worded the right way but it's the only way I can think to describe it.)

Either way, I'm excited to be working on it! So far the progress is pretty quick and the instructions are easy to understand.
